Bremens Bürgermeister Andreas Bovenschulte betonte, dass Streit zur Demokratie gehört. Wer anders denkt, sei aber kein Feind.

Ein Stück blieb aber als Mahnmal stehen und gehört heute zum Deutsch-Deutschen Museum. Am Feiertag ist das Museum von 9 bis 18 Uhr geöffnet, und bei kostenlosen Führungen kann man einen alten Grenzturm besichtigen.

But one piece was left standing as a memorial and is now part of the German-German Museum. On the holiday the museum is open from 9:00 to 18:00, and on free guided tours visitors can see an old border watchtower.
Heute gehen die Menschen ganz frei über den Bach auf die andere Seite. Trotzdem merkt man die alte Grenze noch: Das Dorf hat zwei Postleitzahlen und zwei Telefonvorwahlen. Die Kinder gehen auf verschiedene Schulen, und auch gewählt wird getrennt.
Today people are completely free to walk across the stream to the other side. Even so, the old border can still be felt: the village has two postcodes and two dialling codes. The children go to different schools, and residents vote separately too.
