Weil dann auch weniger Mehrwertsteuer anfällt, soll ein Liter insgesamt etwa 17 Cent billiger werden. Die Entlastung von rund 2,5 Milliarden Euro tragen Bund und Länder gemeinsam.

Bisher gab es das Dokument nur auf Papier, und es kam mit der Post. Wer es ab Oktober online beantragt, kann zusätzlich eine digitale Version wählen. Sie kommt als PDF in das persönliche BundID-Konto, und das soll viel schneller gehen.

Am Ende des Monats beginnt wieder die Winterzeit. In der Nacht zum Sonntag, dem 25. Oktober, werden die Uhren um 3 Uhr auf 2 Uhr zurückgestellt. Man kann in dieser Nacht also eine Stunde länger schlafen. Ob die Zeitumstellung irgendwann ganz abgeschafft wird, ist weiter offen.
