For such comparisons, statisticians use what is known as the gross savings rate. It shows what share of their disposable income households put aside instead of spending it. This includes, for example, money in a savings account, money invested in shares or new company pension entitlements. The figures for 2025 and for the first half of 2026 are still provisional.
